I posted this photo  and other photos on MySpace and got comments that have left me a bit confused but at the same time feeling lucky and proud.

Some of the comments I got included- which webiste did you download the elephants from or worse still where did you get the elephants from?

My answer no these are in Murchsion Falls national Park in Uganda and I took the pics with my camera because that's my country and I went to see the elephants amongst other things. This explanation sounds silly to me but the commentantors were amazed that I have seen real elephants

My point is, let's treasure what we have got! We are a lucky people[:D]

ouch! Admin, Sorry if you missed my point, but to spell it out, I could not believe that they are people out there who think that elephants are only in pictures to be downloaded from the internet!

I knew I should have written this in Luganda! Of course every one on Ugpulse is intelligent but I can't vouch for all folks out there!

Elephants, I do forgive, but can you believe it that I have spoken to a number of young people where I leave who don't actually know that the KFC ''KENTUKY FRIED CHICKEN'' they eat comes from chickens which must be slaughtered first.  They think it's something that appears from the oven.

Do you know that staring at concrete from your house all the way to work and back 365 days a year can make you insane?  How I miss the smell of fresh red soil, later on climbing a jack fruit tree and getting the real thing; the sugar cane behind the house, mangoes that fall on thier own; and the road side fried ''MPUUTA'', with boiled cassava. ah!!!!!!!

QS,

I could see Admin's point though! we are so informed here it never dawns us how uninformed some people are.

Take today for instance. I was telling a colleague of  mine (she is Australian) about the Carnivore Restaurant in Nairobi and the best way I could describe it to her is a ' a giant BBQ' she asked me where Nairobi is and I told her it's in Kenya then she asked me is that South Africa? :-)

June 21, 2007, but don't laugh please, it was  just for one day. I just used my trip to dubai to pass via ug and see a friend. Apparently the ticket offer from the u.k was only a £30 difference terminating at Dubai or extending to Ug. So I went to Ug for £30. Smart !!!

Lol!!! I've missed this post.

hehehehehe@mputa price!  Jeeze are you guys still hang up on  mputa.  Time was, that fish was like chicken is here in the UK!  I don't like the heavy smell and the fat it contains though.

Fish is very expensive in Ug nowadays - beef is much more cheaper to obtain.

J.A, feel for you, if you live in the UK all this is acheiveable. I found away to replicate "kasoli omufumbe" buy corn on the con with all the skin on, microwave for 2-3 minutes with the skin on and voila! kasoli omufumbe :-)

Absurd, aint it? its amazing how ignorant some people are, i had quite a bit of that experience when i went to school in Michigan, i would have a bunch of kids ask how convinient the transport system was in Africa (that we traveled on elephants,) and guess what ? elephants are known for having the largest brain (memory) therefore navigation was perfect because they made trips too and fro without difficult (Nav system) in the begining i got angry but after a while i decided to enjoy it, i would admit to all their sill thoughts and so the hah was on them.
