B 2 Spirit
View Sizes View Details
No EXIF data is available

The world's most expensive fighter air plane. The B-2 spirit costs betwen $2- $2.5 billion [3.4-4.3 trillion UG Shs.]

This bird is undetectable by radar (stealth), since the engines are embedded right inside the airplane body it makes the B- 2 a quiet aircraft, it just whispers past you! no wonder they named it B- 2 Spirit they can see you, but you can't see them!

The noise has to go somewhere. If the engines r locked up inside & the noise hardly comes out, it must be terribly noisy 4 the pilot(s). I really pity them!

The B-2 Spirit is a subsonic jet meaning travelling at speeds  below the speed of sound just like commericial airplanes.

The noise is minimized by phasing out turbulent air such the air which flows into the engines flows smoothly as possible to cancel out excess noise from turbulent flow, and since the exhaust nozzles are ontop of the aircraft body thus reducing noise.

Even the heat seeking missiles can't find the B-2 spirit the exhaust air from the engines is first cooled.

Still, the jet engines produce noise when the fuel is ignited and the air taken in by the engines expands. How is this noise managed?

Kaks, thats a nice question, the noise most of the time you hear when an airplane passes is due to the sonic boom, the new engines made by GE, Rolls Royce, Prat& Whitney are silent.
