The view from my hotel in the evening.
wow kaks, I had a strong feeling that place is magical and looks like I was right.. was it easy to get to?
Kalangala district is made up of many islands in Lake Vic. The biggest of these islands is called Buggala and it is on this island that Kalangala town is located. This is the island I visited. Most locals travel to and between the islands on canoes - some motorised, some powered by paddles. Because I travelled with my car, I took the ferry from Nakiwogo (Entebbe) to Lutoboka (down the hill from Kalangala town). The alternative would have been taking another ferry from Bukakata (Masaka) to Bugoma. My hotel was located right next to where the ferry from Nakiwogo docks. Ferry journey from Nakiwogo to Entebbe is 3hrs. Bukakata to Bugoma is 30 min.
The island itself is very beautiful. Pity about the stinging poverty in the area and the deforestation going on.
I should pay a visit to this magical place on my next visit
