VIDEO OF KAMPALA RIOTS - 12.Ap.07

I just found this one on YOU TUBE

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rsHp4jaqfs

     for  April 12th.2007

CAN YOU IMAGINE THE ATTITUDE OF SOME UGANDANS:

    - that their anger be poured on the Asians and that Uganda should have a repeat of Amin sending the Asians away empty handed? WHY?

WE SURELY NEED EACH OTHER IF WE ARE TO DEVELOPE  UGANDA.

And Racial Violence or even Tribal Violence should not be part of our nation building. We need peaceful coexistence with peoples of  different cultures and religions. yes I think Racial Violence and taking up the rule of the law in mob justice is WRONG.

ITS A SHAME, WHAT TOOK PLACE IN UGANDA THAT THURS 12. Apr.07

IAM because WE are , and since WE are, therefore IAM

TIICA, Thanks for posting. It's a shame that wanainchi had to target Asian individuals but there's mob mentality for you.

Thanks for posting the link. IIt lead me to this unrelated but interesting piece on Uganda - narrated by James McAvoy (from Last King of Scotland)

I think there was a Debate going on in the Parliament and views of the Ngo's ,Environmentalists, and local people ,students of Makrere was sought ,yet the punching bag is always the Asian, some months ago in Pacific Isles in a similar political situation it was the Chinese community at receiving end.

These guys are there to do commerce for ages in the area and after Idi Amin you have seen the result.

Museveni has brought the country to a certain credible level today and believe things may need ironing out here and there but overall when look at Clinton visit some years ago to Uganda,it was a big acheivement.

Why not go North and develop area and Southern Sudan is like a Pandoras box waiting to be opened and what better advantage than Uganda to lead the way,i don't think people are serious and happy let a few people rustle cattle and smuggle diamonds from DRC etc.

     Rahul mate:

    1. Clinton's visit was years ago. Isn't it possible things have changed a lot since then? A week is a long time in politics. As I write this, I am hearing that there r fresh riots in town coz of rumours that some Ugandans were killed in India yesterday. Things move fast Rahul.

    2. Why not go north and develop the area? Would u? The place might be a bit calm now but no investor would like to invest in a place that has a threat of war resumption any time over it. 4 yo information Ugandans r doing brisk business in Sudan.

    3. Plundering DRC. A few pipo in our army did that. We r all now being asked to chip in & contribute billions of dollars in repayments to Congo after Congo successfully sued us. Now tell me. Would u be amused 2 pay 4 some1 else's misdeeds?

    4. How long have u been outta UG?

Doing business in the North? Kaks... i'd like to disagree... I think you are asking the rest of us to sit and wait... correct me if i'm wrong.  Investing wisely in Northern Uganda is like investing in a goldmine.  Ofcourse the riskiest investments yield the most returns.  ...And one needs to calculate the risk.

Investing in Northern Uganda, in my mind, AT THIS PARTICULAR POINT IN TIME..... is an EXCELLENT CALCULATED RISK.

One only needs to look at those that made the huge risk and bought huge amounts of land in and around Kampala in the 1980s. Where are these people now in 2007?.... assuming they wisely held on to their investments.
