    Re: Thank you to Kaks

Thanx 4 the appreciation QS. I must say I was minding my own business in town when I got caught up in the demos so it was purely by chance. I had escaped from the office in the morning & did not make it back until 3pm!! 4 the 1st time, I got a little dose of tear gas. If u notice, the quality is a bit poor coz I didn't use my usual camera. My old Motorola 4n took those pics.

    Tear gas now made locally

I was watching the news yesterday when a local investor was shown who claimed he can produce tear gas 4 the Ugandan police for a quarter of the price at which the Ugandan gov't currently imports it. He also claimed his tear gas is more effective - if sprayed it takes the rioters 3 days to attempt  to return to the venue, instead of the 45mins it currently takes them. WBS showed footage of the guy's lab/factory (large pots, jerrycans, pestles and all). He said his raw materials are sourced locally  (oba it is kamulali/red pepper he was talking about!) and promptly  begged the UG gov't to enable him tap some of that CHOGM money by buying his tear gas. In other words, most Ugandans expect riots in Kampala during CHOGM!!

does anyone remember the last time we had a riot in kampala? for a city that had grown accustomed to having them every other week, it feels refreshing to have not had to deal with imported fumes, lets pray that FDC wont try to pull one over the PGB and demonstrate as the presidents are coming into kampala
