THE HEIR IS THE ONE THAT  IS TO CONTINUE THE LINEAGE OF THE LUO BABIITO  KINGS OF BUNYORO.and as in most african cultures, they want  a SON to be the heir, and to play the big drum of his Dad.

A SON to play THE BIG DRUM

    Petrol dollars start flowing Bunyoro

    admin:

Afer many years of Colonial government (1899-19620 and post independence regimes (1962-2006) neglecting the development of the Bunyoro Region, the Banyoro are finally beginning to realize the WORD OF THEIR ANCESTORS  who told them that = Ekisembo kyobugaiga ekya Ruhanga ayahurra omunaku, tikijunda, kiriba kiro kimu , Ruhanga alikimuha ---- in Runyoro language......... and in English translated as = WHAT GOD HAS KEPT IN STORE FOR A POOR - OPPRESSED PERSON, THAT GIFT DOES DOES NOT GET ROTTEN, ONE DAY IT WILL BE GIVEN TO ITS RIGHTFUL OWNER, SAFE AND INTACT AND STILL SHINNING

     <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Its the oil flowing from Bunyoro that the whole of Uganda is eyeing in the hope that Uganda MAY BECOME THE MAJOR EXPORTER OF OIL in the whole of  East and Central Africa.

    1. Bunyoro kingdom and Banyoro people http://www.bunyoro-kitara.com
    2. Bunyoro interest in oil http://www.ugpulse.com/articles/daily/Business.asp?ID=496#bunyoro

    4. Uganda ready for oil production? http://www.ugpulse.com/articles/daily/Business.asp?ID=496

    <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><<><><><><><><><>

When the First British Explorers came to Uganda in 1862, they immediately developed the plan to colonize the Great Lakes Region once called the Interlacustrine Region. And in their master plan they decided to subdue all the tribes - call them NATIONS  or STATES that were existing and have them surrender to the new British Colonial Empire. As the plans to do so intesfied, it was King Kabaleega of Bunyoro who gave the siffest resistance to the British rule and humiliated them several times with his guerrila tacticts  thus beginning the first ever NATIONAL RESISTANCE MOVEMENT =NRM and the first ever NATIONAL RESISTANCE ARMY =NRA against the British. Strange enough though the British first befriended Kabaka Mwanga against Kabalega, Mwanga later on joined Kabalegas NRM - NRA  to fight against the British and both of them went into hiding in Lango to re-organize their troops for more guerillar attacks on to the Biritish,  till they were captured in 1899 and taken to exile till 1923.

Then the British Colonial Masters decied that since BUNYORO had offered  tough resistance of NRA/NRM to fight the Bristish and since KABALEGA had been captured, and taken into exile ----- therefore-------- as a punishment to the Banyoro --- no developments be ade in that region. And sad enough that was the case till  the time of Uganda's Independence 1962. But the post independence governments that followed it seems were also  INFLUENCED to continue the NEGLECTING OF BUNYORO DEVELOPMENT. Oh yes,  no tarmac roads, no good schools, no fast growing urban centers, no major hospitals, NO LAND TITLES, big chunks of  the most fertile land (64%) was gazetted as National game and forest reserves, and the once known to be high Banyoro population  and their many cows and goats and sheep was relocated to areas that were not fertile that lacked soil depth, and little or no medicine was provided to the sick population  thus leading to the DEPTING OF THE BANYORO POPULATION  and the cattle-goat-sheep population in the kingdom. The British thus put an EMBARGO on Bunyoro for their resistant King Kabalega and surely despite the 45 years of post independence (1962-2007) there has been little or no improvement in the infrastructure of the kingdom. The little that has been done has been mainly the work of the Church organisations like Bunyoro Kitara  -COU- Protestant Diocese and the Hoima Catholic Diocese both of which encompass the whole of Bunyoro kingdom: they have contibuted alot to the setting up of schools and also with the help of an indigenous local NGO called Uganda Rural Development Training URDT  www.urdt.net of Kagadi, Kibaale district.

The British knew there was oil near Lake Albert but feared that if eplored and mined it would give the Banyoro the economic boost and have their Ego rise again, and so te British left Uganda without talking much about the discovery of oil. Then it was President Idi Amin Dada saying that some experts say there is oil in Bunyoro, and he was overthrown before news of oil exploration came out loudly . And now its the current Uganda's NRM regime that has made bold arrangements to find the oil - in Bunyoro

BUT WILL THE DISCOVERY OF OIL HELP BUNYORO RISE  TO NEW STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT?

Omukama Iguru: Peace mediator for N.Uganda!

    The African Proverb says that:

When two elephants fight (LRA and UPDF) its the grass (the common man, the everyday person, the innocent, and the voiceless) who suffer, and the grass looses all its green colour..................The green colour can only come back if Heaven send the rains - is the African belief in many african cultures...................

It is not till HEAVEN sends the rain down on earth that the rain comes and then the grass is brought back to new life. So lets give a chance to King of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom OMUKAMA  IGURU   http://www.bunyoro-kitara.com/mission.htm   to mediate the peace process between LRA and the Uganda government. And remember that the English word HEAVEN is translated in Runyoro language as IGURU

The people of Northern Uganda have had good working relationships and centuries old cultural ties that go back to as early as 1400 AD when the migrations brought the LUO BABIITO to move from the north and finaly settle in the south with their base becoming the strong empire of Bunyoro Kitara kingdom whose rulers are there since then1400 - 2007AD.   http://www.bunyoro-kitara.com/empire.htm    Bunyoro Kitara Empire or Kingdom reahed it apex in the days of OMUKAMA KABALEEGA OF BUNYORO in the late 1890s at a time when the British were entering Uganda and forcing the cultural leaders in then then Uganda to be under the new Uganda Agreement or Colony. But we know from History that Omukamaq Kabaleega resisted colonial domination of his kingdom amnd put up a guerilla warfare  against the British till he was capturd in hiding in Lango in 1899.

The current King of Bunyoro, Omukama Iguru Gafabusa is a descendant of the LUO BABIITO dynasty/empire/ kingdom that goes all the way back to 1400AD. And up to now the people of northern Uganda are spread and settled well in many parts of Bunyoro and are living in harmony with the Banyoro Kitara kingdom   www.bunyoro-kitara.com    Looking at this situation and realizing that the war (LRA-UPDF) in the north cannot end by military means alone, and realizing that perhaps the cultural leaders can play a role in peace and reconciliation of northern Uganda, am of the opinion that the government should encourage Joseph Kony and his LRA team to listen to the mediatorship of the Omukama of Bunyoro in this LRA-UPDF conflict or war. Am almost made to think that Kony may have more trust in the  Religious and Cultural leaders mediatorship rather than talk directly to the military and political leaders of the current NRM Ugandan government. And so why not take advantage of this proposal and have the religious and cultural leaders from Northern Uganda's Luo Speaking tribes and the Southern Bantu Speaking leaders especially the golden friends of the north i.e. the Banyoro leaders , the Omukama Iguru, be in the process of the peace talks with Kony.

Its a historical and cultural fact, and indeed an open secret known by almost all tribes in Uganda that the people of Northern of Uganda have great respect for the Omukama of Bunyoro and for the people of Bunyoro. This is shown by the peaceful coexistence that is there in the kingdom between the indigenous Banyoro and the varied peoples from Luo, the Nilo hamitic and Sudanic tribes of Uganda. And this is always shown on the day of the Coronation Anniversary of the Omukama of Bunyoro  June 11th when  cultural elders and chiefs and their subjects come all the way from different parts of northern Uganda and from as far as DRCongo to participate in the Coronation celebrations, to pay homage to the king and thus mark again or further cement their relationship with the Omukama of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.

-----So who knows , KONY may listen more to these leaders and to the Omukama's advice as His elder  (or is it as the elder Luo Bbiito Brother of Joseph) rather than listen to  politicians and military leaders. <><><><><><>>>><><><><><>OMUKAMA IGURU CAN BRING PEACE - a visit to northern Uganda    http://www.ugpulse.com/ugandan-community/blogs/tiica/archive/2007/05/20/A-visit-to-Northern-Uganda_2E00_.aspx

AS THE SONG OF PASTOR OKUDI SAYS --- this may be the long awaited moment IN THE HOUSE OF UGANDA

    1. the moment of peace and reconciliation
    2. the moment of prayer and annointing    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDbY3zMLVdg
    3. the moment of joy and dancing
    4. the moment of praising and thanking God

Romours and reports are coming out that Kony is no longer a force in the Uganda LRA peace talks so far that his army has split into two and he remains with only about 200 troops. The rest of 800 troops are now under another command.

BUT WHO IS BEHIND THIS MOVE OF GRABING THE LAND FROM THE BAGUNGU OF BUNYORO?

Oh yes I had said it earlier that there were some big shots taking over the land near Lake Albert to prepare themselves for the oil industry ----- but they did so at the expense of driving away the natives who have been there for years and have no land titles.

Kibaale District 4000 Land Titles missing?

    TIICA:
    http://www.ugpulse.com/images/dailyphoto/20060720_900.jpg

, but the Budongo-Bugoma Forests are also on the verge of disappearing

Its alarming   ...... Bunyoro forests are dissapearing really..............   http://www.newvision.co.ug/D/8/21/568744     /quote]

It was in 1899 when Omukama Kabaleega  of Bunyoro Kitara kingdom was captured and taken to exile till his return in 1923 .While he was away and as a way to punish Bunyoro for their support to Kabaleega's guerilla warfare against the British colonialist, his 6 conties were given awy to Buganda as a THANK YOU.

And it was not till 1964 that a referendum was made in  ONLY 2 out of 6 of THE LOST COUNTIES : Buyaga and Bugangaizi, or are they the rediscovered counties -- anyway, the results of the referendum was that the people of Buyaga and Bugangaizi counties opted to belong to Bunyoro kingdom www.bunyoro-kitara.com. The funny thing is that the other four counties were never given a chance to be in the refefendum. The people  of the rediscovered counties were later on given a district called  Kibaale in 1991. Kagadi town has becmoe the economic center of Kibaale district and may become another District as President Museveni has promised them during his election campains of 2006.   http://ugpulse.com/articles/daily/homepage.asp?ID=259   . As they returned to Bunyoro, one major problem was not solved....... the Baganda landlords who had been in Kibaale  had and have the land titles and so the people in Kibaale are just squaters on their own land of their ancestors.

But since then the question has been: where are the 4000 Land Titles  in Kibaale district. and why can they be rerturned to Kibaale and be given to the rightful owners the people of Kibaale  who have been there for years and years. Will the NRM regime do something to solve this issue?

    EMPANGO: Bunyoro's Coronation Royal Dance

    admin:

And on Monday June 11th Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom will be celebrating the 13th anniversary of King Iguru's Coronation. When a King is installed , the first thing he does is to beat the BIG DRUM,  ENGOMA ENKOOTO, ENGOMA EMPANGO calling on all his subjects to join in the ROYAL DANCE that begins at exactly the 9th hour of that day

Its the day of the EMPANGO, the anniversary of the Kings Coronation

The dance will be joined by all tribes that live in Bunyoro,in the 4 Districts, Masindi, Buliisa, Hoima, and Kibaale. And although there are other tribes that have settled there from northern Uganda in Hoima and Masindi and Buliisa district, and the Bakiga  sttlers in Kibaale District, King Iguru of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom has told all his subjects to be one people and continue showing the great culture and spirit of Banyoro who are very accomodating  and allowing other peoples and cultures to stay in the kingdom and thus add to the BEAUTY= IHUNDE for the Kingdom. The most recent news is that  King Iguru has also appealed to the NRM government and especially the  Religious leaders of both Diocese of  Bunyoro Kitara COU and Hoima Catholic Diocese  to help in having the people be accomodative of one another and not have tribal conflicts and thus be able to  stay as one house and one family or kingdom  http://ugpulse.com/articles/daily/news.asp?ID=3491  Of course Bunyoro is excited with the news of the Kings son that was born a few days ago and the news of the Oil found in Bunyoro--- hoping that the oil revenue for the nation will also help developments in the kingdom of  www.bunyoro-kitara.com

Pastoral Balalo and Uganda's Land wrangles

Its the story of the Balaalo Pastoral pipo  being chased away from Queen Elizabeth National Park, and its the Balaalo moving into Bunyoro's Buliisa District and being chased away and now the Balaalo moving to Kiboga District and the Buganda pipo saying no we dont want our land to go to the Balaalo. Where as Bunyoro is an area that has been accomodative of many different tribes, the arrival of Bakiga in Kibaale District and the arrival of the Ballalo in Buliisa and Masindi Districts has been a thorn in the flesh and as they move to Buganda, the Buganda kingdom is saying they should not setlle in Kyankwanzi of Kiboga District in Buganda as the NRM Government has proposed..... what next now?

Who are thes pipo and why are they moving all over Uganda from as far soth as border with Rwanda and with Tanzania  moving up with their cattle thru Ankole, Tooro, Bunyoro,  Luwero- Nakasongola -Kiboga, Kigumba and venturing into Acholi and Lango ---- at every place of entry they are not welcome and the wanainchi see the Balallo having the escort of the GUNS...... who gave them the gunds and why are they moving freely with them without being arrested by the military and by the government?

QUESTION:         Is the Balaalo-Bagungu wrangles a recipe for bloodshed?
