    Obamamania

Like most Ugandans living outside the US, I never used to pay much attention to the US primary elections. I only cared about the final presidential races. This time, however, I am keenly following the primaries and although I was on the Clinton bandwagon a few years ago, I now find myself in the Obama crowd. Even I can't explain why I really want the guy 2 win. Is politics coming down to this, supporting a candidate simply coz he seems 'cooler' than the other guys? Should I be ashamed of this?

1st female or 1st black president of the US; which should we have 1st?

My guess if you put it like so (gender v race) then that will give you results based on people's perceptions on where their ideologies fall - akeen to tribalism v nationalism which appears to be the order of the day in the continent of Africa.  You ask if you ought to be ashamed - only you can answer that my friend based on your reasons for the winds of change in your mind.

Politics is always a camourflouge for the real power brokers who sometimes get it right in the packaging of who is to front their cause.

Though I appreciate the impact the next leader in the US will have on the global framework of things, I am at a loss to understand why this mania has taken ahold when national issues in the African continent cannot even be addressed adequately.  Could it be a case of finding a form of escapism for the masses or orchestrated carry-ons to make the masses forget issues that directly affect them?

I think that it should not be a question of who is the first what, I think that the US should have the most qualified and most active candidate.  Should you be ashamed, well you should ask yourself, "What do I feel is more important, looks or actions?"  If all that matters are looks, then don't be suprised by the outcome that the candidate will have on the US.  "ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD"

What is available by party for the next US president

    Rebulicans - John McCain

    Democrates - Clinton/Obama

    Independant - Ralph Nadder

    Re: Obamamania

Kakokoolo, I am just hoping that the US has the first president for the people and not for him or her self.  I was talking with some gentlemen here in Iraq about Ugandan politics.  One of the most complaints that I hear about is the corruption with the politicians and how it compairs with american politicians.  I have to say that the US has the same amount of corruption, the only differance is that the US is developed.  The politicians in the US say anything to be elected, and then after they are elected they receive money from large companies guiding the white house to it's decissions.  And the government is run by the large corporations and nothing is done for the people.  All I ask for is that the elections for both my countries elects Presidents that are for the people, Presidents that look after their people's interest, Presidents that develop their countrys, Presidents that speak with the voice of the people and Presidents that put money last and THE COUNTRY FIRST.

I think this is our chance also the blacks to rule the world's most top,its time for the first black president to the united states.I woundered when i heard that mostof the blacks were supporting clinton instead of obama and i was woundering which kind of people are these. They thought that the way they will be treated when clinton is in power is far better than the way they will be treated when obama is the president. So i think all the blacks should be voting for the man because it will be them to succed more from this as they will be eatting from the high table. This is agreater opportunity that needs not to be wasted when will we get such  again so we should take it seriously and exploit it optimumly vote for the man and support him.

Let me first welcome you eliazali, but the thing is Obama shouldn't go to the White House because he is black, no He will go there because he is a man who will bring change, action and change the mindset of most African American blacks. Blacks will vote for him, provided they can see empowerment during his time.

But the major problem with the African Americans most of them are in jails, very few go to College/ University so i don't think there'll be any change. If the blacks need an opportunity to make their voices heard they need to go to school study get first class college degrees like Obama in large numbers, and then they will get respect. You simply ask yourself why is it gangs are mostly made up of blacks and latinos? Why not Indians or Chinese? the latter know the trick they study and study and they get the due respect that they are smart and the most educated minorities in US.

Otherwise the race issue aside he is a strong opponent against Mc Cain but i don't see him winning, although he will spice things up but the presidency is still safe with the Republicans.

And I'll soar on wings like an EaGle
