    In the Technology Fair at Makerere, we gave an demonstration of the generation of energy based on sugarcane molasses. The concept is the same though the Brazilians have taken it a step further and used it in their cars.

    babes, strange you should raise this.. there was a documentary on The African Channel last night on the Economic Development of Botswana and this was one of the issues raised. The other unlikely source of bio fuel is Cassava... I was ahlf wathcing the programme so did not catch which bit of the cassava plant is used in biofuels but apparently the Nigerians are the leading experts in this area of work!

     

    My main worry about this is that for msot people cassava maybe the only food they ahve access to and we go down this route they may starve. What are your views folks?

    Actually, Kakira is now making 6MW of electricity from sugarcane...

    i just read that china is planning to use 330 gigawatts
