Whilst some of us that have studied out of Uganda could recall the hassles of having to go to school because the law said so and some frequently looked for ways to bunk off etc, let's spare a thought for those who do not bunk off school because of alternatives to what can be done in the malls or what's on TV during the daytime.

In a much recent projection for crop prospects in our motherland for this year, Eastern Africa, prospects for 2007 cereal crops such as millet and sorgum are favourable in most countries, with the exception of Somalia where output is anticipated to be reduced due to irregular rains in the main growing areas. We must also keep in mind FAO's (Director-General Dr Jacques Diouf) pledge back in September this year to support flood-affected African countries of which Uganda is part of, by utilising all FAO's resources and experience to support flood-affected countries in these parts in rehabilitating the damaged agricultural sector.
