Nebbi Christians' Namugongo walk for June 3rd!

There is always something being celebrated in Uganda. and come June 3rd its time for the nation to turn to God for prayers and pray for peace especially for peace in Northern Uganda. Its a  Ugandan celebration of the Uganda martyrs  christain faith

     SONG OF HOPE   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDpY07OkM4Q

It is approaching the 3rd of june and as usual its the time for pilgrims to make long walking distances from their home places to Namugongo - Kampala, for the National Celebrations fof the Uganda Martrys day.

I remember very well those day when President Idi Amin would always make sure that  he attended these Nnamugongo national celebrations because it was the only chance for him to ever address such a huge gathering  that is bigger than that of the pipo going for the Kololo celebrations.

I think some pipo are faith filled to the point of making long walking distances from Rwanda, Kenya, DRCongo, Tanzania, Rwanda and parts of Southern Sudan and different parts of Uganda to go for the celebrations, some are coming by air from Europe and USA for this big day

As for this year, its the pipo of Nebbi in west Nile  doing the lead in the National celebrations

More of a case of some persons looking to show off at what they hope will put them in the to be 'feared' category!  Celebrations are constantly a reason to spend money feeding people without any socio-eco long-term plan being put in the mix...

I am not stating that all those heading to mark this event are being hypocritical - but it's amazing to me how much religion is embraced and fronted in the continent of Africa, yet our actions towards each other are a contradiction whereby we are inconsiderate to the common person in so far as declaring them to be unworthy to even set foot in a pastor's car as he/she speeds off to give a sermon!

Before setting off to show how spiritual persons are to the historical event at Namugongo, perhaps those participating need to shine a torch at their lives to check see if what the martyrs lives were, reflect upon their own current lives first!

"Worrying is like a rocking chair: it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere."

    Uganda's 70 Muslims martrys-Namugongo!

     June 3rd Uganda Martys Day

It used to be the big day in the days of Idi Amin Dada and nowdays it is said to be getting even bigger numbers  every year.  I thought that it was only the Basomi Christians who were killed at Namugongo , but waapi-- now its news that there were also some 70 moslems killed by Kabaka in those days.
