Geezer - I wanted to request to be excused from commenting to avoid biasness, but just couldn't resist! Thank you for opening up this discussion...
As a lay individual - I woudn't go for this this treatment simply because I feel and believe my holistic approach to diet sustains my gut in the healthy condition I feel is beneficial to me. This doesn't mean to say I write it off as therapy to those who truly benefit from it...
On the other hand, diet as we have it is increasingly influenced by so many factors ranging from tamperings from genetic modifications and pollutant environmental factors that one needs to balance this out with all they have in hand given their genetical make-up and dietary intake.
Whereas diet in developing nations lacks some of the nutrients for a balance - diets in the developed countries are often too rich and given the nature of physical exertion, persons are less likely to utilise all that they take in - hence obesity, irritable bowel symptoms etc one finds in such societes as opposed to malnutrition in less developed countries.
