Why are forbidden fruits - sweeter or tempting?

Whenever there's a law set or a ruling that forbids one to do or act in any way or fashion, it somehow triggers something off in our brains to be attracted to going against this ruling.  For some it could be food - you could be eating quite liberally not even bothering to check what it is you are eating at any given juncture, but soon as you hit a medical snag or watever and told to lay off certain foods etc, then all of a sudden those foods you must not have become a must-have, an obsession crowding most waking moments of your existence.   So I pose the question: Why are forbidden fruits sweeter or tempting?

SB, interesting obsevation. i think we are driven by insticts and a sense of rebelion ......... rebelion trigered by a sense of lose of fredom to make a choice. Rules for example will not eliminate cravings .The human animal is genetically inclined to crave for  food  like meat, fruits etc

I think if it is done on medical grounds then you will  have learn to live with it.

Islam and judaism forbides the consumption and use of pork and other products derived form it, but i doute they miss or crave  pork.

    First: Cherished privilege

    Secondly: Focusing on it.

    i.e
Forbidden from something, your mind keeps wondering why or tries to resist (thus focusing on it) and where there's focus/emotion, intention follows.

TKO - practicing muslims or jewish persons might not miss/crave pork because they've never had nor tasted it.  I may be wrong, but I suspect cravings or missing something is down to having had the item craved/missed in one's life - not so?

I do agree with you over the lines of medical grounds - the need to keep alive and in some cases painfree, might be a stronger incentive then!
