    CHOGM - how ready is Uganda?

    With only about 77 days remaining from the beginng of August to the start of CHOGM, its seems that things on the ground are not ready as has been reported by the special correspondent of the Weekly Observer

    CHOGM in CRISIS

    Re: CHOGM - how ready is Uganda?

    KCC should be worried more about developing for Uganda's sake and not worry about impressing the Queen.  Take down the billboards, or for that matter save the money on buying them and fix the streets, drainage system and water supplies.  If the KCC looked at improving Kla. for the people and transportation and sanitation then Kla. would naturally look beautiful to the rest of the world.  May be the question should be

    "What is KCC doing for the people?"

    "Much madness is divinest sense
    To a discerning eye;
    Much sense the starkest madness.
    'T is the majority
    In this, as all, prevails.
    Assent, and you are sane;
    Demur, -- you're straightway dangerous,
    And handled with a chain."

    Re: CHOGM - how ready is Uganda?

    it will never be!!! but, Chogm will have to go on!!!

    man oh man, isn't it impressive how people continue pumping money into failing projects without accessing why they failed in the first place…

    I recently heard on radio that Nigeria spent so many nairas on building a house for the queen, only for her to sleep in a caravan when she went there…

    ...we have grass, puppets, strings and puppeteers and everyone has to fall into one of those, choose.

    Chogm preparations have done us some good and thats all (only the preparations) there is for most Ugandans.

    Talk about KCC. One time I spent a nite in a local city hotel. the road leading directly to hotel was all deep holes. so I asked the manager why they ca not fix that road because we could hadly get our cars inside the hotel as they sank in the semi valleys. He said to me that one time they fixed that road. A few days later KCC came and undid it to the original state, telling them that they had no permission to repair roads and were taking thier jobs!!  PATHETIC Now it's as  bad or worse than b4.

    Thats life Mwattu.

    how then do you expect Uganda to be ready for CHOGM  if there is such a high degree of corruption in the government circles. Btw ---- I hear that Rwanda is  doing a lot better on this anti corruption thing and that Kagame is very serious on anti corruption even if you are his close relative no joking - the jail awaits you for proper accountability of misuse of public funds.

     But in Uganda one is jailed and later on comes out on bail and is given a big heroes welcome and a big party to thank him for his survival ........ where are we coming from,,,,,, where are we...... and where are we going as a nation. I just wonder how the oil profits will benefit the nation if there is so much corruption among the government officials... ITS A SHAME ON THE NATION AND ON THE GOVERNMENT---------------- look at the construction of schools, health centers, roads----- its shoddy work and the money is eaten---------- FULL STOP.

    And now, ladies & gentlemen, we have greenish-brownish water coming through our taps. Give a round of applause to National Water and Sewerage Corp!! Won't the Queen marvel at this water when she washes her face in it?

    Vision, didn't you know most of our embassies are no more? You chaps in the UK, what is the HC doing to raise awareness? From what I gather, not much is being done in terms of publicity overseas but I believe since many international news orgs shall cover it, we shall get our four days of fame!
