Thanks for bringing us this interview Jane - indeed such persons are the building blocks towards mental development within our communities.  It is humbling to hear from such persons willing to share their life's journey in their professional attainments.

Indeed her latest book comes at a time when there's heated debate on the changes in societies perception on gender sexual orientations within Uganda amongst other parts in the African continent.  Whether it is something to benefit the social community of Uganda or not, is however up for debate.

First a very quick  "Missed you" to SB!!!!!!!!!!

Your fishing this article out is very timely as I am sure that most people on UGPulse have glanced at but not read this interesting interview.

I was moved by what I read this morning at New Vision.  I wonder what is UGPulse's take on the whole matter:

Court agrees to hear lesbian case

Sympathisers of lesbians leave the Kampala High Court yesterday

THE High Court has agreed to hear the case of two women who claim they were tortured by the Police and the LCI chairman of Kireka on allegations that they were lesbians. More...

Thanks Admin. Been trying to read up on all that's transpired in my inactivity on here.  Must say it's all GOOD!!!  You've a wonderful team on board including established members!  Thank you all people.Big Smile

Now as for this court case about these two women who allege to have been violated on grounds of their sexual preference: - My take is that of first asking where the Ugian judiciary stands on the conduct of the state officials pertaining to persons in their custody, in addition to how a case against suspects is brought about.  I could go on more, but this might arm the prosecutors/defendants in their case, so I'm gonna remain zipped until this case comes to trial as stated.

That said - in the worlds some of us have adopted as our home, liberalism over such issues has brought about its own headaches that one wonders where it will all end. I guess its the fear that exporting such views and ways of life that some are keen not to see take off in societies which are barely struggling to make sense of all there is whereas there's those of course who naturally exploit it for all it's worth in the name of 'human rights'. We have 'children's rights' here in our nanny state that have driven parents to question their own sanity when state tells them to lay off discipline in one hand and then penalises then in the other!

    One way - No side-B

The crux of the matter is that their preference is still a taboo in Uganda.

And until that changes, you will have people like those in the pic

Sam thanks for posting this photo.  I saw this in the papers whilst I was there but couldn't for the life of me get a digi-version of it. In fact the one taken in the hard copy showed these guys looking straight up at the photo journalist with their placards stating what the t-shirt had on.

Now I hear gay activisits in Ug are taking to the streets to demostrate against the US for giving support to some anti-gay activists!  Lemme hope it don't go the way it did in Russia when Peter Thatchell went over....
