Way to go Mariam!!! Not only do you stand proud of who you are but aren't in a rush to change! I admire most of all what you represent and stand for and continue to find you inspiring for our young artists back home and those abroad.  On the tours here in the UK, you have graced us with your presence and carried yourself with respect. As a woman - you are an inspirational for most single mothers with careers to cultivate. There are battles ahead still, but those you have won lady, are the ones which accord you the greatest attainment. Way to go sista.  I look forward to your visit here again in the UK but most of all, I wish you the best in Canada - enjoy the experience!!

Admin, thank you for bringing us this interview. Way to go in the entertainment world of Ug!

Ahem indeed... Was Silver Kyagulanyi caught up in the triangle of events or was it an opportunistic occurence.  Still, the lyrics say a lot for what sometimes takes place in real life.

Lol! You women with your suspicious ahems....Huh?

Let me add my soup to the mix. What about the no comment for Segawa who was in the New Vision as one of the hottest UG actors around....ahem....no comment??? Ahem.....Zip it!

But on the real, fun aside, not only is Mariam Ndagire pretty but also very hardworking. I hear you SB on that she is showing that single mothers can make it too. It's not the end of the road for them.

Re: Ugandan Musicians: Meet Mariam Ndagire

Hi SB & UB how is life over yonder?  We in the meantime are preparing for University Graduations & parties, WBS Egabudde, PAM Awards, Ekigunda kyomwaka, Christmas not forgetting end of year parties, I am sure by the time the year ends we would have been declared bankcrupt, LOL!

I believe if an artist approaches a professional to write the lyrics for him/her, the artist comes up with the ideas on what to write about.  Therefore Silver Kyagulanyi did what he thought was best for her client.

She is a single mother, as in she does not have a relationship with Segawa anymore or are we talking about it in a financial sense?

I will say this honestly that I respect Mariam Ndagire as a very talented artist and I love her music but lyrics in such songs like Kiki Onvuma will never win her a PAM Award and yet its really is a good platform to recognise best of the best artists on the Ugandan scene.  She should have been the first Female artist to get a PAM Award because of her multiple hits but imagine she missed it by a whisker because of that particular song and from nowhere Sheilah Nvanungi took it from her just with one hit song!

I am not a theatre person so I cannot comment about Segawa in that aspect but only read about him in the Red Pepper, who never leave him alone!

We wish her all the best on the international scene!

Re: Ugandan Musicians: Meet Mariam Ndagire

Miriam Ndagire is a fighter from music to ehm Segawa but shes shown women that its not right to give up now like Milar says i aint to theatre so much but R.Pepper would give the nitty gritty in the Mirai-Ruth-Segawa love triangle. But i say to Miriam Go gal

Ok to add intruguing lyrics Ehhhhhh did you know mbu Meschach Semakula's Chat busting single Sigwe Onsiimira was a hit back mbu to princess Sheila Nvanungi who word on the street says had Semakula's dime when he tried to demand his dime she offered to pay in kind. When he turned down the offer mbu she dissed his wife as not being prettier than her blah blah and Ssemakula reteeraited through the song...............

Now i have bone to pick with milar and SB why aint replying mails?? and hw r you doing?

Re: Ugandan Musicians: Meet Mariam Ndagire

I am not one that subscribes to sensational news clips from Redpepper, so most of what has been floated there remains out of my realm.  I can only go by what I've seen of Mariam's public performance and how she carries herself professionally on the two occasions I've met her here in the UK.  Lyrics in most music are founded in part on personal experiences observed or lived - much akeen to a scenario where one goes to church and a priest commences to give a sermon reflective to what one may be going through in their day to life!  Many a times I've seen couples have issues returning from Church!  We have examples of one winner (Paulo Kafeero) with the Walumbe song - the lyrics from that song could also be argued to have been reflective of everyday occurences at the time of his singing it.

I guess if I wanted Ug celebrity gossip to be my entertainment stream, then of course this market is not lacking of providers! Each to their own I say!

I guess we all have our own private battles which unfortunately (/fortunately in some cases!) if one is in the public domain are open to all and sundry to draw their own conclusions depending which flavour is best.  Though as one artist over here in the UK recently remarked, it can be rather boring if one is considered "nice" - so to keep the public's appetite in check,  little "savouries" have to be added now and then to keep the spectators happy. That's part and parcel within the entertainment world.

Butterfly, Embarrassed I'm sorry. I've not checked any PMs but can honestly say I've not received any emails from you. I'm fine, getting used to working again amidst all else!  I'll be in touch though sista!

Re: Ugandan Musicians: Meet Mariam Ndagire

Trust ladies with their lugamboling inclination. The article is on UG Pulse for not longer than 48 Hrs but u gals r on Mariam's case about her secrets (or lack of them).

Personally I salute the lady but if she's a single mum, from the snippets I gather in the media (I hardly read those pages), it sounds like she's so by choice. As 4 the Ssegawa dude (I have heard pipo referring to him as 'bba wa Kampala'), I think he's a good actor. It is unusual 4 a man 2 compliment another but he's not bad looking. If only he wasn't such a public playa, he would be a suitable role model  4 a lotta pipo's sons.

    Who's Mesach's babe nway?

Also, wot happened to Conceptx? Any ideas Admin?

Re: Ugandan Musicians: Meet Mariam Ndagire

I was of the view that its her forum therefore it was okey to give our opinions as per the subject otherwise I am not in anyway trying to disrespect her as a person, infact I do not think I said anything bad about her except to do with her MUSIC!  We all express our life experiences differently, be it in music and I do not blame her if she decides to sing about it, but sometimes somethings a best kept to self and not wash it in public!

Kakookolo-I didnt like the sound of what you said "we are on Mariam's case" but in good faith will take it as joke.  Anyhow I thought these forums are for discussion, be it said negatively or postitively so correct me if am wrong!

Butterfly-I also have a bone to pick with you for refusing to meet me for a swallow, LOL!  I have no mail from you Nnyabo or maybe I have not checked, but you know what? I will send you my office address and you send all mails there from now on that one am on it 8 hours a day!  Who knows I might even introduce you to some interesting Ekimeeza sooner than you know but first, you must pass the interview....hahahaha!

Meanwhile...alittle gossip makes my day!  I also had that lugambo between Mesach Semakula and Sheilah Nvanungi but you know how she kwekaza (so dry), she denied it all on her show on CBS FM and even Mesach did so on the Late Show on WBS TV.  Mesach Semakula's wife is a cute light skinned descent young babe not very common on the showbiz scene, I saw her in the flesh at last year's PAM Awards when Mesach won those awards, she was right there next to him on stage.  Infact some bi 'dry' babes tried to hijack the limelight but good old Medi Nsereko was right there at his side and made sure it was his wife sharing the joy and not those showoffs, and the way they were dressed had alot to be desired!

I will also say that Segawa is not doing badly in the 'goodlooks' department but his public displays (and I dont have to read about them)sometimes keep me wondering, infact I do not blame Red Pepper when they always have something to write about him.  Infact for the likes of him we do not need to read about to know whats up, they openly let us know by their acts! and its so true, life would be such a bore without them anyway!

I think day by day I am improving on my writting skills....phew!

Haaaaa - go sista go Millar!  by all means practice makes perfect and your skill in writing is going to be fruition.  I sure miss having had more time with your crew while down there!

Now Kaks - chill bro!  None of us sistas were involved in lugambocarrying as you intimated!  We merely enjoy the rapport brought about from the interview Mariam gave. Anything else is well... side dish! Get with it bro! I think Mariam is good at what she does as an artist, anything else in her private life is her domain to chose how she plays it out.

Millar - thanks for the update gal - anymore you can add on the entertainment thread would sure go down a treat with other audiences here. ps. I enjoyed the bit on girlfriend Whitney...Still I rise!

Re: Ugandan Musicians: Meet Mariam Ndagire

I asked some1 more conversant than me on the Ugandan artists' social lugambo & she said the song wasn't about Sheila. Mbu it was about Chance Nalubega. Now, which is truer, honorable panel of analysts? ( lugambolists seems to have hit a raw nerve last time).

Also, mbu Bada by Bobi Wine was meant 4 Chameleone. Wot r the 'facts' ladies?

Kaks-Are you asking or your being your usual sarcastic self?  Naye nga you are proving to be more lugambolistic than the analysts..hahahahaha!

Bada was not meant for Chameleone but Juliana Kanyomozi's ex boyfriend Amon (Kazibwe?), remember BW and JK have a thing...LOL! (Ha! I one time witnessed a scene at the Rouge and it got me jarring!).

Since when did Mesach Semakula and Chance Nalubega be in the same circle?  Chance Nalubega is far from all that nonsense because she has her 'omusheshe amumatira' remember? hihihi....

When darkness descends on K'la, u can't be sure of all that goes on. Don't just rule Chance out point blank..........

Meanwhile all yous go to the roll call thread and attend (say present) or else..... The headmaster hisself (Admin) has just attended.
