UGANDA's 46 yrs of Independence

Published Friday, October 10, 2008 2:51 PM

UHURU is the Swahili word of Independence.

I remember very well that Day of UHURU on Oct 9, 1962
I remember seeing the celebrations
and though I was young and in primary school
but I remember seeing the British Flag go down
and the UGANDA Flag go up as we got our Independence that day.

Oh whatever happened to the famous UHURU word we used to say
and it was that we all said happy UHURU day.
And now 46 year later we are still called
Uganda the member of the THIRD WORLD
The challenges ahead of us are many
and we must work hard as a nation for the betterment of Uganda

address to the nation of Uganda Oct 9, 08

UGANDA'S
EDUCATION 46 yrs later

Uganda seems to be the country offering the best education in the whole region of East Africa. This can be witnessed by the many international students coming from Kenya Tanzania Rwanda Burundi Congo and Sudan. They are In Ugandas primary and secondaryschools and tertiary institutions and colleges or Universities. But are you aware that due to poverty its only the rich who can afford goodquality education in private institutions? UPE Universal Primary Education has been here since 1996 and its graduates are in Secondary schools by now. USE Universal Secondary education has been operative since 2006 and it first group of beneficiaries in S2 or 2nd year
The primary and secondary school enrolment has risen high so high that Museveni is proposing double shift for schools
~BUT WILL IT WORK?????

~Strong Tertairy Education is key to Development
There is need urgently to invest more in Tertiary Education so that more Ugandans get University education. Uganda needs many educated people with College or University education in order for the nation to fast track development. However much louder the much politicised song of UPE/USE may be sang with its drum accompanyments of Prosperity for all Bonna Bagaggawale, the truth of the matter Uganda must help the youth get more affordable College or Universiy education. Post secondary education,Teriary education, College education is key to fast tracking National Development. There must be masssive investment in education, in sciences today more than ever

~Overhaling the Ugandan Education system
http://freefufu.com/forums/t/1858.aspx
The Ugandan education system 46 yrs later needs to be overhauled to change to adapt to modern world needs and challenges and help produce JOB MAKERS and not JOB SEEKERS.Why still have the education system that has colourings of colonial times?? shall we be able to compete in the global economy and line of development if our education lacks relevancy to us and to the international community?
